Mike Baur is a Swiss entrepreneur, whose home town is the Friborg region. As a teenager, he developed a liking for banking and immediately knew that that was where his destiny lied. He went through banking apprenticeship but knew that without a good education, his career would not reach the heights that he desired. In 1997, he joined the University of Economics and Administration (HSW) Berne to pursue his Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Finance and graduated in 2000. But he did not stop there. In 2007, he joined the University of Berne / University of Rochester New York where he did his executive Masters in Business Administration.

Mike Baur is a managing partner and co-founder of Swiss Startup Factory. Right before he begun to invest in startup companies, Mike had worked in the banking industry for more than twenty years and had what it took to get into entrepreneurship. He and his partners, Max Meister and Oliver Walzer, founded Swiss Startup Factory in 2014. Every one of them has a role at the company, and Mike is not an exception. He is in charge of fundraising and financing rounds at the company. They have worked hand in hand to build their company to what it is today.

In 2016, Mike Baur was chosen to be one of the jury members of a start-up pitch contest known as the START Summiteer held at the University of St. Gallen. In 2016, Swiss Startup Factory entered a partnership with CTI and, in the same year, Mike Baur was appointed to be the deputy Managing Director of the company. 2016 was an amazing year for Mike. He led Swiss Startup factory through its partnership with Fintech Fusion and through the accelerator program that had been organized by the company and Goldback Group. The year ended on a high note for him, when the Wall Street Journal featured him in their December issue, where they profiled his career from Swiss banking to startup investor and entrepreneur.

Mike believes in investing in Swiss entrepreneurship and is always willing to give his support, either financially or through mentorship, to Swiss startups. He is always willing to listen, learn new ideas, share experiences and support anyone who is in the startup field. He derives great pleasure in his career and is happy with what he and his partners have been able to accomplish so far with Swiss Startup Factory.
