When it comes to marketing, some products are just memorable. When it comes to chapstick, EOS is that product. The rich velvety texture of the plastic case, the simple yet ingenious orb shape, and the soft fragrant ingredients make it a true experience.
Launched in the US in 2007, EOS, the acronym for Evolution of Smooth, immediately stood out from its competitors. It did this with one, not so subtle, change to the traditional chapstick shape; they made it a sphere. Having taken years to test the market with design samples, EOS co-founders Sajiv Mehra and Jonathon Teller came across the need for something different. Their findings revealed, what customers wanted was a shape that would be easily found in purses and on counter tops, in drawers and behind beds. As well as a product that didn’t require dipping a tool or your finger in it to use (yuck!). While EOS may have spent a large amount of time and energy on their product’s design they didn’t skimp on quality ingredients or flavors. With all natural ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter, EOS lip balm is a moisturizing encounter that can last for hours. They include ingredients such as vitamin E as well, a known antioxidant that can help protect skin cells from damage. The scents are gentle and delicious including, but not limited to, honey apple, vanilla mint and pomegranate raspberry to name a few. Some variations use SPF to make their product versatile and accessible to a wide variety of clients.
